Online Seminar "BREF Process Kick-Off: Spotlight on Flue Gas Cleaning Technology"

Objective
You will gain a deeper understanding of the development of Best Available Techniques (BAT) for reducing emissions in the European cement industry and develop a profound knowledge of state-of-the-art abatement technologies.
Target groups
- Environmental managers
- Process engineers specialised in emission abatement technologies in cement manufacturing,
- Plant design engineers
- Plant managers
- Authority officials.
Description
Flue gas cleaning technology in the cement industry is based on, and has been further developed in accordance with, the extensive Best Available Techniques Reference Document (BREF). The next revision cycle of the BREF document is due to start in 2027. The current state of knowledge and emissions data from plants across Europe, as well as ecological and economic factors, are highly relevant and influence discussions between industry, authorities, and decision-makers. This online seminar will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the importance of the BREF process. You will learn about the current BAT for emission abatement, its limitations and potential and cost implications. The seminar will conclude with an outlook on 'new' emission parameters to be discussed in the future, such as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
Agenda
- Start of the BREF-Process in 2027: How does it work?
- Report on ongoing BREF preparation activities in other European countries
- State-of-the-Art in NOx reduction in the cement industry
- Advanced mercury emissions abatement
- Latest research on reducing organic emissions and CO
- Overview of technologies for reducing SOx emissions
- PFAS: Current state of knowledge on behaviour in the clinker burning process
- Open discussion among participants: Which approaches are being pursued in the various European countries?
